A man has ignited online chatter after sharing details of a private talk he had with a friend just days before the friend’s Abuja wedding.
He explained that the groom disclosed his motivations for going ahead with the marriage during a conversation held the day before the ceremony.
The disclosure has since drawn considerable attention on social platforms, prompting users to discuss the significance of love, commitment, and personal values in matrimony.
Although the ceremony proceeded as scheduled, the friend’s account has elicited a range of reactions from internet users.
The Groom’s Admission
Recounting the exchange, the man said the groom acknowledged that romantic love was not the primary reason behind his decision to marry his bride.
“My friend and his wife got married today here in Abuja. According to him, he told me yesterday that he isn’t marrying his wife because he really loves her but because she is a good girl and a virgin. That she doesn’t have the kind of body he likes in a woman.”
These comments rapidly ignited debate online, with some doubting the marriage’s foundation while others pointed out that individuals often prioritize different traits when selecting a partner.
Public Response to the Revelation
The man added that the groom had voiced worries about his ability to stay faithful in the marriage.
“He also said that he knows he won’t be loyal to his wife but he just wants to keep her because she is good.”
Despite the remarks, the speaker expressed optimism that the union would succeed and that the groom’s outlook might evolve over time.
“I wish them all the best and I hope he experiences a change of heart, opting to love her and remain faithful instead. Wishing them a happy married life.”
