Francis Duru Speaks on Moving Forward After Tragedy
Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has opened up about how he dealt with the loss of his son, emphasizing that he did not allow grief to halt his daily responsibilities.
He described the pain of losing his child as deep, yet he made a conscious decision to stay engaged in his work and personal commitments.
Duru explained that his involvement extends beyond acting; he regularly participates in theatre productions, offers consultancy services, and teaches at his church’s Sunday school.
Even the day after his son’s burial, he attended church and carried out his usual duties, despite the emotional turmoil he was experiencing.
The actor said he believes in continuing with life’s obligations while navigating personal struggles, a mindset that has kept him active and focused.
He stated, “I have never been quiet. The Saturday they buried my son, on Sunday I was in church doing what I am supposed to do. Yes, trauma and all that stuff have been there, but I have never been quiet. It is not only movies I do; I do theatre, I do consultancy in different areas, then I go to school.”
