Former IGP Adamu Quits APC Over Nasarawa Primary Irregularities
Former Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said the decision followed what he described as irregularities in the Nasarawa State gubernatorial primary that saw Senator Aliyu Wadada emerge victorious.
Adamu explained that his exit came after extensive consultations with supporters, political allies and family members. He thanked the party for the opportunity to serve and contribute to its growth, and acknowledged the cooperation he received from party members at the ward, local government and state levels.
He stressed that internal democracy, fairness, transparency and equal opportunity are essential for any democratic political party. According to him, the conduct of the Nasarawa primary did not reflect these principles, leading to a loss of confidence in the party’s leadership and processes in the state.
