Theodore Orji Denies EFCC Raid Allegations
The media team of former Abia State Governor Theodore Orji has dismissed circulating social media reports that Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives raided his residence and seized large sums of money, valuables, election documents, gold jewellery and luxury vehicles.
In a statement released on Saturday, Paul Njoku, Media Director of the Chinedum Orji Media Organisation, labelled the allegations as false and malicious.
The viral posts claimed that EFCC agents stormed Orji’s home in Umuahia, recovering billions of dollars, pre‑written election results, gold jewellery and several luxury cars.
Njoku asserted that no such operation ever occurred.
“At no time did the EFCC raid his residence in Umuahia or any other location in Nigeria. Consequently, no incriminating items, election materials, or any of the alleged exhibits were recovered, as no such operation ever took place,” the statement read.
The organisation described the publication as “false, malicious, and deliberately crafted to mislead the public, tarnish reputations and create unnecessary panic.”
It also affirmed that Orji is “hale, hearty and in good health.”
Njoku explained that the group initially considered ignoring the claims but opted to respond after receiving enquiries from associates, supporters and members of the public.
“We consider it necessary to set the record straight,” he said, urging the public and media outlets to verify information from credible sources before sharing or publishing sensitive claims.
The statement added that the organisation remains focused on promoting the political activities of former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji, whom it identified as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
It concluded that it would not be distracted by what it termed attempts by unnamed individuals to spread falsehood.
