Fashola Criticizes Opposition Ahead of 2027 Elections
Former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, has said that opposition parties in Nigeria have not been able to offer any credible alternative as the country looks toward the 2027 general elections.
According to Fashola, the opposition is mainly focused on removing President Bola Tinubu from office but has failed to convince Nigerians what they would do differently. He argued that the upcoming election should be a “clash of ideas” rather than a contest driven by personalities.
He lamented that, so far, the opposition has not presented fresh policy proposals capable of showing Nigerians a better approach to governance. Fashola added that he would welcome a situation where opposition parties clearly outline their plans on taxation, security, infrastructure, and economic growth, allowing citizens to evaluate and choose leaders based on substance.
Reflecting on his own public service career, Fashola described the opportunity to serve Lagos State and Nigeria as the greatest honour of his life.
