Desmond Elliot Returns to Nollywood After APC Primary Defeat
Lagos lawmaker and actor Desmond Elliot has reportedly resumed his acting career after losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for his Surulere Constituency I seat.
He was spotted on a movie set, engaging with colleagues, and a video of the session has circulated online, drawing enthusiastic reactions from fans eager to see him back on screen.
Elliot, a three‑term legislator, lost the party’s nomination to Barakat Odunuga‑Bakare, who won by a wide margin, ending his bid for the 2027 general elections.
Despite the setback, Elliot shared his thoughts on political loyalty, saying he cannot imagine leaving President Bola Tinubu for opposition figures such as Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) or Atiku Abubakar.
He stressed that leadership is temporary and should be exercised with humility and service, warning that many politicians forget that power is fleeting.
Reflecting on his tenure, Elliot highlighted improvements in electricity supply and healthcare in Surulere, noting that the area was once a difficult place to live but now enjoys better infrastructure.
He concluded, “I don’t steal money. If you look at Surulere ten years ago, it was a horrible place to live in, but now there’s electricity, healthcare and all.”
