Davido’s Preference for a Simple Life
Nigerian afrobeats superstar Davido says he often chooses to dress casually and live like an ordinary person, even though he enjoys fame and a wealthy upbringing.
He explained that having experienced luxury from a young age — private jets, expensive cars and constant exposure to wealth — has made those trappings less exciting for him.
Instead, Davido prefers to wear slippers, shorts and sometimes go without his watch, saying he still feels comfortable and authentic.
Although his managers encourage him to adopt a polished “celebrity personality” for public appearances, he resists the pressure, insisting that basic needs like hunger should not be turned into a spectacle.
Despite owning luxury vehicles in Atlanta, he occasionally opts to drive a modest Toyota to feel more like everyone else.
For Davido, living simply helps him stay genuine and connected to his roots.
