Benue Commissioner Accuses Senator Moro of Politicising Herder Violence
Benue State Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Odoh Ugwu, has condemned Senator Abba Moro for allegedly using the tragic deaths of civilians killed by armed herders as a platform for political publicity.
Ugwu asserted that Moro is spreading falsehoods against Governor Hyacinth Alia in an attempt to stay relevant, describing this as the senator’s go‑to tactic to mask what many view as a lacklustre performance in the Senate.
Call for Accountability and Concrete Action
The commissioner stressed that Benue South deserves a senator who unites the populace and delivers practical solutions, not one who resorts to media sensationalism to shift blame.
He added, “As the elected representative of Benue South, Senator Moro must answer to his constituents. Beyond endless television appearances and press interviews, what measurable steps has he taken to improve security, attract investment, empower youth, or alleviate the hardships faced by the people? Leadership is judged by deeds, not by dramatic media outings designed to conceal failures after more than seven years in the Red Chamber.”

He challenged the senator to provide verifiable evidence if such a claim holds true, warning that baseless assertions only project desperation and undermine public trust.

The commissioner highlighted Governor Hyacinth Alia’s commitment to fairness and inclusion, noting that the administration has entrusted Benue South with key ministries such as Finance, Education, Health, Women Affairs, Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, and Information.
These sectors continue to deliver policies and programmes that benefit all Benue citizens. Ugwu maintained that no amount of political blackmail, misinformation, or character assassination can erase the tangible achievements of the Alia administration, insisting that the politically conscious people of Benue South will not be swayed by recycled propaganda.
