Kenneth Okonkwo Calls Peter Obi Classless, Accuses Him of Targeting Southeast Rising Stars
African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo has described the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, as a classless, non‑charismatic politician with little legal knowledge and zero depth of the law.
Speaking about Obi’s defamation suit against him, Okonkwo insisted he never defamed the former Anambra State Governor. He said his remarks are already in the public domain and can be verified by anyone.
Okonkwo urged Obi’s legal team to educate him on defamation law, noting that a defamation action concerns statements already made, not words one intends to utter.
He labelled Obi a “compulsive liar” who seeks to destroy every rising star from the South‑East, echoing Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo’s comment that Obi lies like a fish drinks water.
“What I said is on my X handle,” Okonkwo stated. “Defamation suit is for what you have already said, not what you intend to say. If Obi had gone to court, why didn’t he simply sue me for what I intend to say?”
He pointed out that Obi’s pre‑action notice preceded any court filing, showing the suit’s basis is flawed. “The court you are going to is just to use it to get those things you have already asked for, which the person said you are not qualified for,” he added.
Okonkwo challenged Obi to take legal action against other critics, such as Omoyele Sowore and Keyamo, asking why he has not sued them if the allegations are false.
He concluded that Obi’s lawyers should better inform him about defamation, and reiterated his agreement with Keyamo’s assessment of Obi as a compulsive liar.
