Benue State Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Odoh Ugwu, has launched a strong rebuke against Senator Abba Moro, accusing him of exploiting the deaths caused by armed herders for political gain and spreading false narratives aimed at discrediting Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Allegations of Blame‑Shifting and Political Propaganda
Ugwu described Moro’s recent media appearances as a “reckless torrent of falsehoods, distortions, and desperate political propaganda” designed to tarnish the governor’s reputation. He noted that, at a time when Benue South faces severe security challenges, the senator has chosen to “dance on the graves” of victims rather than support genuine efforts to curb insecurity.
Call for Accountability and Tangible Action
The commissioner challenged Moro to move beyond television soundbites and press interviews, asking what concrete steps he has taken to improve security, attract investment, empower youth, or alleviate hardship in his constituency. Ugwu emphasized that leadership is measured by action, not by sensational media outings or attempts to shift blame to cover up shortcomings after more than seven years in the Senate.
He specifically cited Moro’s claim on AIT that he had increased a ₦150,000 pledge made by a state commissioner to an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp. Ugwu urged the senator to provide verifiable evidence if the allegation is true, warning that unsubstantiated statements only project desperation and damage public trust.
Governor Alia’s Record of Inclusiveness and Development
Ugwu highlighted Governor Hyacinth Alia’s commitment to fairness and inclusion, pointing out that key ministries — Finance, Education, Health, Women Affairs, Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, and Information — have been entrusted to Benue South under the current administration. These sectors continue to deliver policies and programmes that benefit all Benue residents.
He concluded that no amount of political blackmail, misinformation, or character assassination can erase the tangible achievements of the Alia administration. The people of Benue South, he said, are politically aware and resistant to recycled propaganda or fabricated narratives intended to mislead the public.
