Atiku Abubakar Takes Early Lead in ADC Presidential Primary
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has established an early advantage in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary, securing victories in eight states as delegates across the nation cast their ballots to choose the party’s nominee for the 2027 presidential election.
Although the ADC national leadership has not yet released the final collated results from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, incoming figures from several states show Atiku maintaining a strong lead in the early stages of the voting process.

Atiku Abubakar, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in both the 2019 and 2023 elections, remains a prominent figure in Nigeria’s opposition landscape.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State and past chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, entered the ADC race promising institutional reforms and stronger internal party democracy.
Hayatu‑Deen has campaigned on economic restructuring and private‑sector‑driven growth.
Party officials are expected to announce the complete results once collation from the remaining states and the Federal Capital Territory is finished.
