ADC Chieftain Criticizes APC Presidential Primary Figures
African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kola Ologbondiyan has labelled the vote totals released from the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary as laughable, saying Nigerians are openly questioning the authenticity of the numbers.
The primary exercise was carried out in 8,809 wards across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. According to the announced results, Bola Tinubu secured approximately 10.9 million votes, while his nearest rival, Osifo, garnered only 16,503 votes.
Appearing on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief” on Tuesday, Ologbondiyan challenged the figures, asking where such numbers originated and expressing confidence that ADC’s own presidential primary would be conducted with greater credibility.
He argued that Nigerians have become more politically observant, silently monitoring activities even when they do not speak out publicly. Ologbondiyan warned that a delegate‑style system could open the door to funding or bribery, which would distort the true will of the voters.
Contrasting the APC’s approach, the ADC leader said his party rejects “geometric counting” and insists on presenting raw vote totals without artificial inflation. He acknowledged a single isolated incident in Yobe but emphasized that ADC is committed to a different, more transparent process ahead of its primary.
Looking toward the 2027 general election, Ologbondiyan suggested that the ADC offers a glimmer of hope for Nigerians, motivating citizens to volunteer and participate in the electoral process on their own initiative.
