Aspirant Challenges Pantami’s PDP Nomination in Gombe
The Federal High Court in Gombe has begun hearing a pre‑election lawsuit filed by Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh, who contests the emergence of Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami as the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate for the state.
Saleh alleges that irregularities marred the PDP’s governorship primary, claiming the process that produced Pantami as the flag bearer was flawed and lacked transparency.
Before resorting to litigation, the aggrieved aspirant appealed to the party leadership, urging them to address his concerns and exhaust internal dispute‑resolution mechanisms in the interest of fairness, unity, and due process.
After describing those internal efforts as unsuccessful, Saleh approached the court to seek a judicial review of the primary outcome.
Justice Mohammed has adjourned the matter until July 9, 2026, for the continuation of proceedings. The case is expected to draw significant political attention as the PDP prepares for the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State.
