APM Confident Seyi Makinde Will Beat Tinubu in 2027 Election
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has declared that its presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, is poised to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
APM spokesperson Yusuf argued that Makinde possesses the leadership credentials, nationwide appeal, and competence required to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges, revive the economy, and deliver the dividends of good governance.
According to Yusuf, the party has intensified grassroots mobilisation across the country, recording a surge in membership as prominent politicians join the platform, which he describes as evidence of growing public confidence in APM.
He praised Makinde’s record as one of the country’s best‑performing governors, noting his prudent management of public resources, inclusive leadership, and ability to unite Nigerians across political, ethnic, and religious lines.
The APC, however, dismissed the opposition’s optimism. APC Director of Publicity Bala Ibrahim stated that while opposition parties are entitled to present alternatives, Makinde poses no significant electoral threat to President Tinubu, whose reforms are beginning to yield positive results that Nigerians will acknowledge before the next election.
Ibrahim also urged serving governors aspiring to higher office to be prepared to account for their stewardship, emphasizing that accountability applies to all leaders, including Makinde and fellow governor Bala Mohammed.
