APC Appoints State Coordinators and Collation Officers for 2026 Presidential Primary
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has named state coordinators and collation officers to manage its 2026 presidential primary across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the guidelines signed by APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, the primary will be held in all 8,809 wards nationwide, allowing every registered APC member to vote for their preferred presidential aspirant at the ward level.
Results will be gathered at the ward level, then collated at the local government level before being forwarded to the state level for final aggregation.
The party has also placed its own political figures in opposition‑controlled states to oversee the process, ensuring that senior APC members, rather than sitting governors from other parties, direct the exercise.
Examples of Appointments in Opposition‑Led States
In Oyo State, where Governor Seyi Makinde belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Teslim Folarin serves as both state coordinator and collation officer.
In Abia State, governed by Labour Party’s Alex Otti, Benjamin Kalu has been appointed to the same dual role.
Process Overview
State coordinators will appoint local government collation officers, who will aggregate results from the 774 local government areas. After local government collation, state coordinators will compile the results and forward them to the Presidential Primary Election Committee in Abuja. The final state results are to be presented to the committee on May 24, 2026.
