APC Chairman Meets Turaki‑PDP Deputy Women Leader to Discuss National Unity
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, announced that he held a cordial meeting with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, Deputy National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to Kabiru Turaki.
During the discussion, both leaders stressed the importance of national unity, peace, stability and the shared responsibility for Nigeria’s progress.
Yilwatda emphasized that, despite political differences, the peace and development of the nation must remain a common priority and hinted at future engagements with other opposition figures.
PDP Faction Submits Goodluck Jonathan’s Name to INEC for 2027 Presidency
In a related development, a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party said it had forwarded the name of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, stated that INEC acknowledged receipt of the documents, even though the group claimed it was denied access to electronic submission codes.
Ememobong argued that the faction represents the authentic PDP leadership, citing a Supreme Court judgment that left the party without a legally recognised national executive, which prompted the Board of Trustees and a requisitioned National Executive Committee meeting to establish an interim leadership structure.
