APC Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda Meets PDP Deputy Women Leader Hamsatu Adamu
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, announced on Friday that he held a cordial meeting with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, Deputy National Women Leader of the PDP faction aligned with Kabiru Turaki.
In a statement posted on his 𝕏 account, Yilwatda said their conversation centred on the need for national unity and the future direction of Nigeria.
He stressed that, despite political differences, both leaders agreed that peace, stability and progress must remain a shared priority for all Nigerians.
“I had a cordial meeting with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, Deputy National Woman Leader in the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki‑led PDP National Working Committee,” he wrote. “Our discussions focused on national unity and Nigeria’s future. We agreed that, beyond partisan divides, the peace, stability and progress of our nation must stay our common priority.”
The APC chairman also hinted at plans to engage further with other opposition leaders, reiterating his commitment to work with patriotic Nigerians toward a stronger, more united and prosperous country.
Separately, a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party announced that it had submitted former President Goodluck Jonathan’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, amid the party’s ongoing leadership crisis.
The faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, told reporters that INEC acknowledged receipt of the documents, even though the group reportedly lacked access to electronic submission codes.
Ememobong maintained that this faction constitutes the authentic PDP leadership, citing a Supreme Court ruling that left the party without a legally recognised national executive, which prompted the Board of Trustees and a requisitioned National Executive Committee to establish an interim structure.
