APC Chairman Engages PDP Opposition Leader
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, revealed that he recently held a cordial meeting with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, Deputy National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction aligned with Kabiru Turaki.
Sharing the details on his 𝕏 account on Friday, Yilwatda said the conversation centred on the urgent need for national unity and the collective vision for Nigeria’s future.
He stressed that, despite differing party affiliations, both leaders agreed that the peace, stability, and progress of Nigeria must remain a shared priority.
Commitment to Broader Opposition Dialogue
Yilwatda also indicated that further engagements with other opposition chieftains are planned, emphasizing his dedication to involving all patriotic Nigerians in building a stronger, more united, and prosperous nation.
PDP Faction Moves Forward with 2027 Presidential Bid
In related news, a faction of the PDP announced that it had submitted the name of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, told reporters late Thursday that INEC had acknowledged receipt of the submission, despite claims that the group was denied access to electronic filing codes.
Ememobong asserted that this faction constitutes the authentic leadership of the PDP, citing a Supreme Court ruling that left the party without a legally recognised national executive, which prompted the formation of an interim leadership structure through a members‑requisitioned National Executive Committee meeting.
