APC Chairman Meets PDP Deputy Women Leader to Discuss National Unity
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, revealed that he recently met with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, the Deputy National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction aligned with Kabiru Turaki.
Sharing the news on his 𝕏 account on Friday, Yilwatda said their conversation centred on the need for national unity and the future of Nigeria. He stressed that, despite political differences, both sides agreed that peace, stability, and progress for the country must remain a shared priority.
“I had a cordial meeting with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, Deputy National Woman Leader in the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki‑led PDP National Working Committee,” he wrote. “Our discussions focused on the need for national unity and the future of Nigeria. We agreed that, beyond political differences, the peace, stability, and progress of our nation must remain our shared priority.”
The APC Chairman added that he intends to hold similar meetings with other opposition leaders, reiterating his commitment to engage all patriotic Nigerians in building a stronger, more united, and more prosperous Nigeria.
In related news, a faction of the PDP announced that it had submitted the name of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. This move comes amid the party’s ongoing leadership crisis.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Ini Ememobong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee, said INEC had acknowledged receipt of the documents, even though the faction claims it was denied access to electronic submission codes. Ememobong maintained that this group represents the authentic PDP leadership, citing a Supreme Court judgment that left the party without a legally recognised national authority, which prompted the formation of an interim leadership structure.
