APC Begins Collation of Presidential Primary Results Ahead of 2027 Elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced the collation of results from its nationwide presidential primary election, which took place on Saturday, May 23, across the 8,809 wards in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The party adopted a direct primary system, allowing registered members to vote for their preferred presidential aspirant. This approach aims to deepen internal democracy and encourage grassroots participation, moving away from the delegate‑based model that often triggers internal disputes.
The collation exercise is being supervised by a seven‑member Presidential Primary Election Committee chaired by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim. Other members include Senator Ken Nnamani, Grace Titi Laoye‑Ponle, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Idris Wada, with Sanusi Musa serving as secretary.
Governors, state party chairmen, and designated collation officers are already present at the venue, ready to submit certified results from their states to the Anyim‑led committee. The outcome will determine the APC’s presidential flagbearer for the 2027 general elections.
