ADC Faces Setback in Kaduna as Governorship Aspirant Muhammad Bello Resigns
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has encountered a setback in Kaduna State after one of its notable members and governorship hopefuls, Muhammad Bello — widely referred to as Mainan Zazzau — announced his resignation from the party.
Bello submitted his resignation letter to the ADC chairman in Dogarawa Ward, Sabon Gari Local Government Area. In the correspondence, he stated that his withdrawal from the party takes effect immediately, without providing a reason for his decision.
The letter read: “This is to inform you of my decision to withdraw my membership of the ADC with immediate effect.” Bello also thanked the party and its members for the beneficial relationship he enjoyed during his tenure.
He described his association with the ADC as mutually beneficial and wished the organisation success in its future political endeavours. Copies of the resignation were sent to the ADC National Chairman, the National Working Committee, the Kaduna State Executive Committee, and the Sabon Gari Local Government Executive Committee.
The resignation comes amid increasing political activity and realignments as stakeholders prepare for the 2027 general elections. As of the time of this report, Bello has not publicly explained his motives for leaving the ADC, nor has he indicated whether he intends to join another political party or pursue an alternative platform ahead of the next election cycle.
