Wike Credits First Lady for FCT City Gate Facelift
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has praised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as the driving force behind the recent facelift of the FCT City Gate.
Speaking during an inspection tour on Monday, Wike said several key road and infrastructure projects in Abuja are now ready for formal inauguration by June, coinciding with the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Projects Covered in the Inspection Tour
The tour included the Renewed Hope City Access Road in Karsana District, the rehabilitation of Old Keffi Road, FCT Highway 105 (Airport Road to Kuje), the first phase of the Kuje‑Gwagwalada Road, and the remodelling of the City Gate itself.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the works, describing the day as “one of the happiest” because the long‑awaited projects are poised for launch.
Acknowledging the First Lady’s Vision
He stated that the landmark City Gate facelift was the “brainchild” of Senator Oluremi Tinubu, lauding her supportive role in the administration.
“This is what you have when you have a good woman who means well for the administration of her husband. I am talking about the first lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu,” Wike said.
He added that he is pleased with the contractor Julius Berger’s work and believes anyone entering the capital at night will notice a transformed scene.
