Veteran Nollywood Actor Benedict Johnson Hospitalised, Awaits Surgery
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced that veteran actor Benedict Johnson is currently hospitalised and requires surgery. The disclosure came after a video of the actor undergoing an MRI scan went viral, prompting public concern about his health.
AGN officials confirmed that Johnson is receiving medical treatment for an undisclosed condition that necessitates surgical intervention. The guild’s leadership said they are fully aware of his situation and are providing institutional support to ensure a successful procedure.
“Yes, he is ill. He requires surgery, and we are lending our full support to make sure he gets the operation,” said a guild representative.
Johnson, a graduate of Abia State University, began his acting career in the early days of Nollywood with roles in classics such as Living in Bondage and Stolen Bible. Before venturing into film, he worked as a recording artist in the late 1980s.
