Dele Odule Opens Up About His Darkest Moment
Veteran actor Dele Odule has recalled a painful chapter from his early career when overwhelming frustration and poverty pushed him to the brink of despair.
He explained that, unable to afford even a single meal a day, he faced harsh judgement from acquaintances who criticised his decision to leave a stable teaching job for an uncertain acting path.
The pressure mounted until Odule felt helpless and contemplated ending his life, even going as far as thinking about purchasing a coffin as a way out.
He credited his mentor, Pa Olatunbosun Odunsi, for intervening—inviting him for a night‑time hunt in the bush where the elder offered counsel and encouragement that helped him pull back from the edge.
