Ozigbo Calls for Youth-Led Change in Nigeria
Former Anambra State governorship candidate Valentine Ozigbo has denounced the lack of morality in Nigerian politics, asserting that ethical shortcomings are not confined to any single party.
He argued that the nation’s political problems transcend party lines, insisting that wrongdoing is evident across the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Labour Party, and other groups.
Ozigbo claimed there is little distinction between Nigeria’s leading political figures — President Bola Tinubu, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and ex‑Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso — describing them collectively as part of the country’s current challenges.
He urged young Nigerians to stop placing their hopes solely on established politicians, many of whom, he said, have contributed to the nation’s difficulties.
Instead, the younger generation must take an active role in shaping Nigeria’s future, as they will ultimately be responsible for rebuilding the country.
Ozigbo added that he has lost confidence in the older generation’s ability to deliver the transformation needed to address Nigeria’s deep‑rooted problems.
Quoting him directly, he said: “I’m not exonerating APC. I’m not defending APC. I never went in to APC to applaud what I see in APC. A lot of evils happen in Nigeria, in APC, Labour Party, NDC, in all of them.”
“There’s dearth of morality in politics in Nigeria. Forget who’s in power. As a matter of fact, I don’t even see much difference in all these people running for elections.”
“There’s no difference between Tinubu, Obi, and Kwankwaso and co. That’s what I see; they are problems right now.”
“I am saying this because the younger generation needs to wake up and stop outsourcing their destiny to people who, in some cases, have contributed to the problems of Nigeria, while expecting them to fix it.”
“We need to remind young people that they are the ones who will ultimately rebuild this country. I have lost confidence in the older generation to drive the kind of change Nigeria needs.”
