Tyla Removes Lagos Concert from APOP World Tour
South African Grammy‑winning singer Tyla has removed Lagos from the schedule of her APOP World Tour, as shown on her official tour website.
The updated itinerary still lists her previously announced dates across Europe, North America and South Africa, but the Lagos show that was slated for December 22 is no longer present.
As of the time of this report, neither Tyla nor her management has explained why the Lagos concert was taken off the tour, and the promoters have not issued any cancellation or postponement notice.
When the tour was first announced, Lagos was the only Nigerian stop, which triggered mixed reactions on social media.
Some Nigerians called for a boycott, arguing that South African artistes should not perform in Nigeria while Nigerians allegedly face xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
Others countered that musicians should not be held responsible for the social and political problems of their home countries.
Former Big Brother Naija housemate Pere Egbi urged the Nigeria Immigration Service to deny visas to Tyla and her team, citing the visa difficulties experienced by Ayra Starr and her crew when they attempted to perform in South Africa.
Social activist Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, threatened to mobilise his Ratel Movement to prevent the concert from taking place, stating that the show would not be allowed to proceed and condemning South African promoters and celebrities for staying silent on xenophobia.
In contrast, 2027 presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress argued that Tyla should not be blamed for xenophobic attacks and insisted that her Lagos concert must go on.
At present, it remains unclear whether the removal of Lagos represents a permanent cancellation, a postponement or merely a scheduling adjustment, pending an official statement from Tyla or her management.
