Tonye Cole Warns Rivers State Is 20 Years Backward Due to Political Feud
A former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, said the prolonged political feud has pushed the state backwards by roughly two decades.
He stated, “We have fought a fight that has left Rivers State further back 20 years than we have ever been in our entire history as a state.”
Cole urged leaders from all parties to set aside their differences and work together for the state’s renewal.
“We have to do that across party lines. We don’t care whether you are PDP, APC, ADC, or NDC. What matters now is that Rivers State seeks the best from everywhere, brings them together, and forges a master plan to move forward,” he added.
The APC chieftain emphasized that rebuilding must involve competent individuals from every political camp, prioritizing the state’s interests over partisan gains.
He warned that failing to reconcile the divergent camps could plunge Rivers into another damaging round of conflict, reversing any progress made.
Cole said his team is already reaching out to aggrieved parties across the spectrum, seeking a common commitment to advance Rivers State.
“If we do not unite, we risk entering another bitter division that will not move us forward,” he concluded.
