Toni Payne Completes Inter Milan Move
Super Falcons midfielder Toni Payne has officially joined Inter Milan after departing Everton, signing a two‑year contract that runs until June 30, 2028.
The Nigerian international, born on April 22, 1995 in Birmingham, Alabama to Nigerian parents, began her youth career with her sisters before progressing through Ajax’s academy, which brought her to Europe in 2017.
After a season in the Netherlands, Payne moved to Sevilla where she made 168 appearances and scored 30 goals between 2018 and 2024, before a stint in the Women’s Super League with Everton.
Having represented the United States at youth level, she switched allegiance to Nigeria and made her Super Falcons debut in 2021, becoming a regular fixture in the midfield.
Inter Milan’s women’s side, which earned promotion to Serie A in its inaugural season after forming in 2018, qualified for the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in April 2025 with a 3‑0 win over Roma.
Payne’s arrival adds depth to a rising Nerazzurri squad just weeks before the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where she has been named in Nigeria’s 25‑player squad.
This will be her third WAFCON appearance, having featured in the 2023 and 2024 editions, the latter seeing Nigeria clinch a record‑extending tenth title.
Nigeria are drawn in Group C alongside Malawi, Egypt and Zambia, with all group matches set to be played in Rabat from 26 July to 16 August.
