Timini Egbuson Opens Up About Living a Fake Life and Borrowing to Impress
Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson recently revealed that he once led a fabricated lifestyle, borrowing money to maintain an extravagant image.
He spoke openly about his lavish spending on designer fashion and perfume collections, but later realised that genuine happiness outweighs the constant pressure to acquire the newest luxury goods and showcase them online.
The actor, who once boasted a collection of about 150 perfumes, said the money spent on those fragrances could have been better used to purchase land.
“There will always be a newer watch, a newer car,” Timini said. “I used to be a perfume collector. I had around 150 bottles. Looking back, I could have invested that money in real estate instead.”
He clarified that he is not criticising the desire for nice cars or watches, but urged people to examine their motivations: “Are you buying it for yourself or simply because of peer pressure? Do you truly feel happy with it? And if you didn’t have it, would you still be content?”
Timini added that even during periods when he was broke, his energy remained unchanged because he learned to find joy in what he already possessed.
For his fans and followers, he tries to convey that life will have both good and bad days. Dwelling only on the negatives and losing oneself prevents authentic expression and content creation, which amounts to living a lie.
He concluded, “I used to be that guy who lived a fake life and borrowed to impress people. But not anymore.”
