Timi Frank Challenges Obasanjo’s Political Relevance
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has dismissed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent remarks on the 2027 presidential election, stating that the ex‑leader no longer holds the sway to shape electoral outcomes.
Frank accused Obasanjo of repeatedly shifting his focus to Atiku Abubakar whenever a general election approaches, and blamed the former president for continually holding his former deputy responsible for the shortcomings of their joint administration.
He argued that Nigerians are already accustomed to Obasanjo’s criticism of Atiku and that such statements are unlikely to sway voter decisions in 2027.
The APC chieftain noted that Obasanjo’s endorsements have failed to deliver expected results in past elections, claiming his political backing no longer carries the weight it once did.
Frank urged the former president to openly back any candidate he prefers instead of using his platform to attack Atiku, and to devote more attention to evaluating the policies and actions of the current administration.
According to Frank, the 2027 election will be decided solely by the votes of Nigerians, not by the opinions or opposition of individual political figures.
He added that if Atiku’s ambition to become president receives public support, no political figure will be able to block it.
Frank concluded with a sharp remark: “Your political value is whitewash and a ruse because any candidate you support has always been defeated at the polls, even in your home state of Ogun. Sell your candidate if you have one at all and refrain from allowing yourself to be used before the issue of Atiku becomes a nightmare that may eventually consume you. Atiku isn’t the problem of Nigeria right now and we dare you to criticize the current government like the way you cry about Atiku. If it is destined for Atiku to become President, neither you nor anyone else can stop it.”
