Sule Lamido Urges PDP to Focus on Issues, Not Personalities, Ahead of 2027
Former Jigawa State Governor and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has called on party members to shift their campaigns from personal attacks to substantive issues as the nation prepares for the 2027 general elections.
He said, “We want to redirect and restore the culture of politics to focus on issues, not personalities. We are all Nigerians, citizens who love this country. It is not about what someone has done, but about what each individual or party can offer Nigerians.”
Lamido highlighted insecurity, education, the economy and corruption as the pressing challenges that must dominate the political discourse. “These are the topics we will campaign on, so that when we assume power, we deliver a government truly of the people,” he added.
PDP Gombe governorship hopeful and former Communications Minister Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami praised Lamido’s fatherly guidance, steadfastness and truth‑telling. Pantami noted that the meeting sought the elder statesman’s advice and support while navigating today’s political terrain, adding that Nigeria needs leaders like Lamido who stand with the masses and speak truth irrespective of rank.
