A young Nigerian student has ignited a social media frenzy after alleging he was removed from the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), prompting widespread curiosity about the circumstances behind his expulsion.
SIWES is a mandatory industrial training initiative for students at many Nigerian tertiary institutions, aimed at giving them hands‑on experience in their chosen fields before they graduate.
He posted a video online with the caption: “Dem sack me for SIWES, wetin I wan tell them for my school?” The clip quickly gathered attention, with many users expressing shock that a participant could be expelled from the programme.
Some commentators suggested his behaviour might have influenced the decision, while others criticised the SIWES framework itself.
