Senator Wadada Defends Tinubu Administration
The lawmaker representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Senator Aliyu Wadada, has strongly defended President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that only an “ignorant” person, an unrealistic critic, or an open enemy would wish the government away.
Speaking on the nation’s economic trajectory, Wadada pointed to several key indicators that have shown noticeable improvement since Tinubu took office. He noted that while more work remains, the progress across various sectors is evident and cannot be ignored.
“For anybody to sit down and wish away this administration, then that person is either ignorant, not realistic, or an open enemy,” he said, adding that legitimate opposition differs from outright hostility.
Economic Gains Cited by the Senator
Wadada highlighted improvements in Nigeria’s balance of payments, balance of trade, foreign reserves, exchange rate stability, and the capital market as proof that the administration’s economic reforms are yielding positive results.
He revealed that foreign reserves have risen from below $30 billion at the start of Tinubu’s tenure to approximately $56–57 billion. The unification of the foreign exchange windows, he added, has contributed to greater stability of the naira.
Ongoing infrastructure projects nationwide and growth in the Nigerian capital market were also presented as further signs of economic advancement under the current government.
Acknowledging Remaining Challenges
The senator acknowledged that challenges persist. “There are glaring improvements, developments and growth in every sector, but that is not to say all is well. Much more needs to be done,” he stated.
Commendation for the Electricity Act and Nasarawa’s Mineral Potential
Wadada also praised the Tinubu administration for signing the Electricity Act, which he said creates opportunities for states to generate electricity by leveraging their comparative advantages.
He noted that Nasarawa has emerged as a major player in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector, hosting the country’s first and second lithium processing plants.
