Senator Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West in the National Assembly, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that only an ignorant person or an open enemy would wish the government away.

Economic Indicators Show Progress

The lawmaker pointed to improved balance of payments, balance of trade, foreign reserves, exchange‑rate stability and a stronger capital market as proof that Tinubu’s economic reforms are yielding results.

He noted that Nigeria’s foreign reserves have risen from below $30 billion at the start of Tinubu’s tenure to about $56–57 billion, and that the unification of foreign‑exchange windows has helped stabilise the naira.

Infrastructure and Sectoral Growth

Wadada highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects nationwide and the growth of the Nigerian capital market as further signs of progress. He also praised the signing of the Electricity Act, which enables states to generate power using their comparative advantages.

The senator added that Nasarawa State has become a key player in the solid minerals sector, hosting the country’s first and second lithium processing plants.

Challenges Remain

While acknowledging the gains, Wadada cautioned that much work still lies ahead, urging a realistic appraisal of both achievements and remaining challenges.
