Wadada Defends Tinubu’s Economic Record

The lawmaker representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Senator Aliyu Wadada, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that only an “ignorant” person, an unrealistic critic, or an open enemy would wish the government away.

Wadada pointed to a range of economic indicators that have shown noticeable improvement since Tinubu took office. He noted progress in the balance of payments, balance of trade, foreign reserves, exchange rate stability, and the capital market as evidence that the administration’s reforms are yielding positive results.

According to the senator, Nigeria’s foreign reserves have risen from below $30 billion at the start of Tinubu’s tenure to approximately $56–57 billion. He added that the unification of the foreign exchange windows has contributed to greater stability of the naira.

Wadada also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects across the country and growth in the Nigerian capital market as further signs of economic advancement under the current administration.

While acknowledging the gains, he cautioned that challenges remain and more work is needed.

The senator commended the Tinubu administration for signing the Electricity Act, which he said creates opportunities for states to generate electricity by leveraging their comparative advantages. He noted that Nasarawa has emerged as a major player in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector, hosting the country’s first and second lithium processing plants.
