The affirmation came on the same day Senator Buba formally defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PRP. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Sabo Mohammed, he cited the absence of internal democracy, lack of fairness, marginalisation of genuine party members, and disregard for grassroots voices as reasons for leaving the APC.
He also promised investments in road networks, storage facilities, renewable energy projects, and industrial infrastructure to stimulate growth and job creation.

Buba added that his decision to join the PRP was based on the party’s commitment to justice, accountability, inclusiveness, and people‑oriented leadership. He had previously withdrawn from the APC governorship contest, alleging irregularities and constitutional breaches during the party’s primaries in Bauchi State, claiming that some officials announced predetermined results without conducting actual voting.
“No investor will come where there is insecurity, and no farmer will plant where there is fear,” he stressed.
He also promised investments in road networks, storage facilities, renewable energy projects, and industrial infrastructure to stimulate growth and job creation.

Senator Shehu Buba Wins PRP Governorship Nomination
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has confirmed Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Bauchi State.
The announcement was made by Haruna Buhari, PRP Deputy National Vice Chairman for the North, who also oversaw the state’s primary exercise. He explained that the affirmation formed part of the party’s nationwide primaries conducted across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, in line with PRP guidelines and electoral law.
Buhari noted that Buba emerged as the sole cleared aspirant, satisfying all constitutional and legal requirements. He added that the party constitution allows for affirmation even when only one aspirant remains, provided delegates agree and return the elected candidate.
Delegate Endorsement and Candidate’s Pledge
A total of 766 delegates from Bauchi State’s 20 local government areas participated in the process and unanimously endorsed Buba. In his acceptance speech, the senator pledged to implement an ₦80,000 minimum wage for public servants if elected governor.
“I repeat, we will implement a minimum wage of ₦80,000 in the public service,” he declared.
Buba described the PRP as “a movement rooted in justice, equity and the dignity of ordinary Nigerians,” and said it continues the political ideals of the late Mallam Aminu Kano. He appealed for unity, urging supporters of other aspirants to join him.
“To those who supported other aspirants, I extend my hand to you. From this moment forward, we move together,” he said.
Policy Priorities and Vision for Bauchi
Senator Buba outlined security, economic development, infrastructure, agriculture, and mining as the key pillars of his administration. He proposed integrating traditional institutions, local security structures, and technology‑driven surveillance to tackle insecurity.
