Senator Wadada Defends Tinubu Administration Amid Economic Gains
The lawmaker representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Senator Aliyu Wadada, has voiced strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, asserting that only an ignorant person, an unrealistic critic, or an open enemy would wish the government away.
He pointed to several economic indicators that have shown noticeable improvement since Tinubu took office, noting that while more work remains, the progress across key sectors is evident.
Key Economic Improvements Highlighted
Wadada cited rises in the nation’s balance of payments, balance of trade, foreign reserves, exchange rate stability, and activity in the capital market as proof that the administration’s reforms are yielding positive results.
According to the senator, foreign reserves have climbed from below $30 billion at the start of Tinubu’s tenure to approximately $56–57 billion. The unification of foreign exchange windows has contributed to greater stability of the naira.
Infrastructure, Capital Market and Policy Wins
He also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects nationwide and growth in the Nigerian capital market as further signs of economic advancement.
The senator welcomed the signing of the Electricity Act, which enables states to generate electricity by leveraging their comparative advantages, and noted that Nasarawa has become a major player in the solid minerals sector, hosting the country’s first and second lithium processing plants.
Acknowledging Remaining Challenges
Wadada acknowledged that challenges persist, stating that while there are glaring improvements and growth in every sector, much more still needs to be done.
In his view, opposition is legitimate, but wishing away the administration reflects either ignorance, unrealistic expectations, or outright hostility.
