Salihu Lukman Ready to Rejoin ADC if It Unites Opposition
Former African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Salihu Lukman has said he is prepared to re‑join the party, provided it leads to a united effort to field a credible candidate capable of winning Nigerians’ trust, regardless of party affiliation.
Lukman explained that he had suspended his ADC membership out of frustration with the current state of politics.
He stressed that unity among ADC leaders is essential only if it serves the broader goal of presenting a candidate that can earn the confidence of Nigerians.
“I suspended my ADC membership out of frustration. I am not speaking as an ADC member because Nigeria is facing a serious challenge,” he said.
Lukman added that partisan politics alone will not resolve the nation’s problems and that he would retain his membership if it helps bring the party’s leaders together, emphasizing that Nigeria is bigger than the ADC.
He urged the opposition to step up their game if they hope to unseat the ruling party, warning that the current opposition risks repeating the mistakes of the 2023 elections.
Lukman called for opposition leaders to set aside personal ambitions and prioritize the country’s destiny.
