Salihu Lukman Ready to Rejoin ADC Under Certain Conditions
Former African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader Salihu Lukman has stated that he is prepared to return to the party, but only if it leads to a united effort to field a credible candidate capable of earning Nigerians’ trust, regardless of party affiliation.
Lukman explained that he had suspended his membership out of frustration with the party’s direction. He stressed that his comments are not made as an ADC member, but as a concerned Nigerian facing serious national challenges.
He added that partisan politics alone cannot solve the country’s problems, and that he would retain his ADC membership if it helps bring the party’s leaders together, noting that Nigeria’s interests outweigh those of any single party.
Call for Opposition Unity and Improved Strategy
Lukman also urged the opposition to strengthen its preparations if it hopes to unseat the ruling party. While he wants to see the incumbent administration defeated, he expressed disappointment with the current state of the opposition.
He warned that the opposition risks repeating the mistakes of the 2023 elections, even after judicial rulings, unless it addresses the personal ambitions of its leaders and places the nation’s destiny above individual interests.
