Real Madrid Denies Interest in Chelsea Midfielder Enzo Fernandez Amid Mourinho Rumors
Real Madrid has firmly dismissed reports linking the club with a move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The Spanish giants released an official statement on Friday, insisting that no attempt has been made to sign the Argentina international and that no transfer is being considered.
Club’s Official Statement
The statement read: “In light of the reports and statements that have appeared in recent days regarding an alleged interest from Real Madrid CF in the player Enzo Fernández, the club wishes to state that it has not made any effort, either direct or indirect, to sign the aforementioned player and, likewise, has no intention of undertaking such an operation.”
Real Madrid also emphasized its strong relationship with Chelsea, expressing respect for both the player and the club.
“Precisely because of the respect that an entity like Chelsea FC deserves and because of the principles of institutional loyalty that have always governed the actions of Real Madrid, the club considers it necessary to categorically deny speculations that are unfounded and do not correspond to reality,” the statement added.
The club regretted that, despite the clarity of the facts, false information continues to circulate, causing confusion among fans and unnecessary harm to those involved.
Background on the Rumors
The denial follows claims that Fernandez was Jose Mourinho’s preferred midfield signing and that the player viewed Madrid as his favoured destination should he leave Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are reported to value the midfielder at around £120 million, with his contract running until 2032.
Enzo Fernandez has previously spoken about his admiration for Madrid and described the Spanish capital as a city he would like to live in. Those comments earlier this year reportedly led to him being omitted from Chelsea’s squad for two matches.
Last season, the Argentina midfielder made 54 appearances across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists. He is currently with Argentina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they face Cape Verde in the Round of 32.
