PRP Removes Bauchi Chairman Following Internal Party Crisis
The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has dismissed its Bauchi State Chairman, Abdulrahman Yusuf Muazu, with immediate effect. The decision came after rising tensions within the party’s state structure.
The announcement was made during a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat by Ahmed Mohammed Bello, who serves as Secretary of Majidadi A Ward.
Reasons for the Removal
Bello explained that the removal followed the party’s constitution and the findings of a disciplinary committee report submitted on May 11, 2026. The committee found Muazu guilty of disobedience and failure to comply with lawful instructions from the party’s leadership.
Additionally, Muazu was accused of transferring some of his official responsibilities to the party’s National Publicity Secretary, which the committee deemed a violation of party rules and a source of internal disagreement.
Consequences and Appointment of Acting Chairman
As a result, Muazu has lost the authority to speak or act on behalf of the PRP, including the use of its name, symbols, and official platforms.
The party has appointed its State Youth Leader, Tijjani Abubakar Aliyu, as acting chairman in Bauchi State until further notice.
Future Direction of the Party
Aliyu stated that he will work to stabilise the party and restore order in the state chapter. He emphasized that the PRP will not accept candidates without broad consultation among members, particularly those who have recently joined from other political parties.
Consultations are set to begin soon to confirm the party’s official candidates for upcoming elections.
