Tinubu Holds Closed-Door Meeting with Benue Governor Alia and Former Governor Suswam
President Bola Tinubu convened a private meeting on Monday with Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia and former governor Senator Gabriel Suswam at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The gathering comes amid rising political friction within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue, where Governor Alia and supporters of Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume are contesting for control of the party’s structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting also follows recent internal party realignments that saw Senator Suswam lose the APC senatorial primary in Benue after a national leadership review of candidates.
According to New Telegraph, the timing of the discussion has fueled speculation that the Presidency is intervening to ease tensions, reconcile differing interests, and foster unity among Benue’s political class in preparation for the 2027 polls.
As of the time of this report, the Presidency has not released an official statement detailing the outcomes of the closed-door session.
