Carlos Queiroz has stepped down as head coach of the Ghana national team after the Black Stars’ elimination from the FIFA World Cup in the round of 16.
Ghana lost 1-0 to Colombia in Kansas City, managing only eight shots on target before exiting the tournament.
Queiroz’s Reflections on His Tenure
In a statement released on Sunday, Queiroz said he departs with pride in what the team achieved, but also with a healthy dissatisfaction for not reaching higher goals.
He emphasized that the Black Stars’ future must be built not only on performances on the pitch but also on strengthening the structures surrounding the national team.
Vision for Ghana’s Football Development
Queiroz urged that reaching a higher level should be the starting point for even greater ambitions, calling for an environment that prepares, protects, and develops Ghana’s football talent.
Although his tenure lasted only a few months, his departure marks the end of Ghana’s World Cup campaign and opens the door for a new leadership era.
