Peter Obi’s Camp Reacts to Federal High Court Ruling
The camp of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has described a recent Federal High Court decision that overturned an earlier order to register the party as a mere hurdle, not a stop sign.
In a statement released by Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) through spokesman Idris Zekeri, the former Anambra State governor said their legal teams are carefully reviewing the judgment and preparing appropriate corrective and appellate steps.
Obi urged his supporters, coalition partners, and patriots across the country to stay calm and focused, emphasizing that the movement’s goals remain unchanged.
The statement read: “Peter Obi Media Reach has been inundated with calls from newsrooms and concerned citizens about the unusual ruling from the Lokoja High Court in Kogi State. Below are our initial responses pending further legal analysis.”
“We have received news of today’s bizarre ruling concerning the legal status of the Nigeria Democratic Congress. While our lawyers examine the judgment to launch immediate corrective and appellate actions, our principal calls on all supporters, allies, and patriots nationwide to remain absolutely calm and focused.”
“We anticipated that dismantling a deeply entrenched and under‑performing political order would provoke strong institutional resistance and unexpected legal detours.”
“Today’s decision is a hurdle, not a stop sign. Our pledge to offer Nigerians a transparent, legitimate, and formidable alternative remains unshakeable. The structure we are building is solid, and we will vigorously defend our legal rights. Do not be discouraged; the vehicle may suffer a temporary breakdown, but our destination is non‑negotiable.”
