PDP Leaders Gather at Court Ahead of Crucial Convention Judgment
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed led PDP governors to Abuja’s Federal High Court on Friday. They attended proceedings for a lawsuit threatening the party’s upcoming national convention. The judgment will decide if PDP can proceed with preparations.
Legal Challenge Against Convention Plans
Three PDP officials initiated the court action. Plaintiffs include Austin Nwachukwu (Imo chairman), Amah Nnanna (Abia chairman), and Turnah George (South-South secretary). They allege convention preparations violated PDP’s constitution and due process.
The suit seeks to restrain PDP leadership and INEC from holding the convention. It claims procedural breaches in organizing the elective event.

PDP postponed aspirant screenings due to the lawsuit. National Convention Organising Committee Chairman Umaru Fintiri announced the delay. Screenings were initially scheduled for October 28, 2025.
The committee cited “unforeseen circumstances” for the suspension. A new screening date remains pending according to official statements. This postponement adds uncertainty to convention timelines.
