The spokesperson highlighted the changing nature of insecurity. It has become a highly organised criminal enterprise. The PDP called on the Federal Government to stop politicising national security issues.
National data, according to the PDP, reveals a disturbing trend. Banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism now fuel a “trillion Naira economy.” This indicates a problem far more complex than government statements suggest.
Government officials were also accused of inadvertently legitimising criminal groups. This happens by engaging in talks with armed bandits. Such actions send a dangerous message. This is especially true when civilians cannot legally carry arms.
The PDP argued that this demonstrates a clear collapse of governmental authority. It allows armed individuals, carrying illegal weapons, to negotiate directly with state representatives.
