NDC Forms National Reconciliation Committee
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has set up a seven‑member National Reconciliation Committee to engage dissatisfied aspirants nationwide and settle issues stemming from its recent primary elections.
The move follows the release of the 2027 election candidate lists by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which sparked discontent among several party members.
Leadership and Membership
Renowned political economist Pat Utomi will chair the committee, while veteran politician Buba Galadima serves as co‑chairman. Barrister Mohammed Sani Takori is appointed vice chairman, and Comrade Babatunde Alli acts as secretary.
Additional members include Mrs Dudu Mamman Manuga, Hon. Salvador Adegoke Moshood and Alhaji Haruna Pai.
Zonal Sub‑Committees
To cover the country more effectively, the NDC also created three zonal reconciliation sub‑committees for the North, South‑East and South‑South geopolitical zones.
Northern Sub‑Committee – Chair: Mainasara Sani Abubakar; Secretary: Barrister Fatima Musa Abba; Members: Comrade Solomon Ndah, Dr Tanko Yusufu and Arc. Dr Toma Audu Gana.
South‑East Sub‑Committee – Chair: Victor Umeh; Secretary: Sir Patrick Akwara; Members: Barrister Eze Chikamnayo, Dr Patrick Ezie Chukwudi, Chief (Barr.) Isaac Chinaka Anumudu and Stefiny Amaka Eugene.
South‑South Sub‑Committee – Chair: Senator Ben Birabi; Secretary: Senator Clever M. Ikisikpo; Members: Isaac Idahosa, Esther Archibong and Apostle David Stephen Okpon.
Inauguration Details
The National Reconciliation Committee will be officially inaugurated at the NDC’s national secretariat on Thursday, 6 August 2026 at 12:00 noon.
