Ondo APC Forms Reconciliation Committee Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a 10‑member State Reconciliation Committee aimed at uniting party members and strengthening the organisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The committee was unveiled by APC State Chairman Kolawole Babatunde at the party secretariat in Akure, the state capital.
Speaking at the inauguration, Babatunde tasked the committee with reconciling aggrieved members and bridging the various tendencies within the party. He emphasized that all stakeholders must set aside differences to achieve the APC’s electoral goals in 2027.
The panel is also charged with supporting Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s directive that the party secure at least one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Ondo State.
Beyond the presidential contest, the committee will work toward APC victories in all three senatorial districts, the nine House of Representatives seats, and the 26 seats of the Ondo State House of Assembly.
Babatunde stressed that every party member has a vital role to play and that no one should be deemed irrelevant or expendable. He reminded attendees that while personal disappointments are permissible, they must not undermine the collective interest of the party.
“When the party takes a decision, every loyal member is expected to respect it. Individual ambitions must always give way to the larger objective of party unity and electoral success,” Babatunde stated.
He added that Governor Aiyedatiwa has made the state government’s position clear: Ondo remains committed to delivering a decisive victory for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
In his acceptance speech, committee chairman Poroye assured the leadership that the members understand the importance of their mandate and are prepared to resolve disagreements and strengthen the party ahead of the polls.
“Having observed public reactions since the announcement, I believe the Governor has taken the right step. This committee is a bold move toward strengthening our party ahead of the general elections,” Poroye noted.
He expressed optimism that pending litigations involving some party members will be settled amicably before the 2027 elections and urged members to stay committed to the APC, reminding them that both victory and defeat are part of the political process.
“There is nothing wrong with losing an election, just as there is nothing extraordinary about winning one. What matters most is how we manage victory and defeat,” he said.
Poroye appealed to members to place the party’s interests above personal ambitions, noting that loyalty, patience, and continued commitment will open future political opportunities.
He urged all stakeholders to work together, reconcile their differences, and prepare the APC for a strong showing in the 2027 general elections.
