A Nigerian woman named Eniola has touched countless hearts after revealing that a road crash on her way home from the NYSC orientation camp resulted in a spinal cord injury, forever altering her life.
Her experience, conveyed in an emotional TikTok clip posted by a friend, has spread rapidly across the internet.
How the Accident Transformed Her Life
In the video, Eniola explained that the crash took place in 2021 as she was heading back home after departing the NYSC orientation camp because she had fallen ill.
“In 2021, I experienced an accident while returning from the NYSC camp. I had been headed to Akwa Ibom State, but after roughly two weeks at the camp I fell ill and was instructed to go home. During my journey back, I crashed and emerged as the sole survivor. The impact damaged my spinal cord, leaving me in this condition ever since.”
I Have Lost the Ability to Walk or Sense My Body
Eniola disclosed that the injury robbed her of feeling below her chest, leaving her unable to walk.
“I am unable to move my legs or walk. By December it will have been five years since the incident. I have no sensation below my breasts, feeling nothing in my body, and I continue to struggle with pressure sores.”
She also claimed that several people deceived her, pretending they could cure spinal cord injuries.
“Over the years I have consulted numerous physicians and so‑called experts, many of whom have taken advantage of me. Some, lacking any real knowledge of spinal cord injuries, have lied to me. Eventually they amputated one of my toes, and ever since my leg has been plagued by sensations resembling electric shocks.”
I Attempted to Take My Own Life
The young woman confessed that the relentless emotional and physical anguish grew too much to bear, prompting her to try to end her life three separate times.
“Yes, I have attempted it three times, but none succeeded. I once tried drinking Savlon because I felt trapped—unable to leave the house, turn over in bed, or sit for extended periods.”
I Am Thankful to Still Be Alive
Eniola also noted that she was the sole survivor of the crash.
“I feel grateful. I am truly thankful because this feels like a second opportunity, and I believe my circumstances will improve,” she said.
A Call for Assistance
She appealed to the public, asking Nigerians to provide financial aid so she can pursue treatment and regain her independence.
“This is my plea for help. I need individuals to stand by me and contribute to my medical expenses. I sincerely desire to improve, and I hold firm to the belief that I will walk again, trusting that God will bring it about. Please assist in any way you can. Regaining the ability to walk would be a dream realized, filling me with joy and gratitude toward God, Nigerians, and every supporter. Even a slow pace would be acceptable; my sole wish is to walk.”
