NPFL Warns Clubs Over Website Compliance
NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi has warned clubs that they must create and maintain functional websites or risk losing their licences. He delivered the warning during a seminar and workshop for club media officers in Enugu.
Owumi explained that the lack of credible and verifiable information from the league’s 20 clubs is a major obstacle to securing sponsorship deals, costing the league and its clubs millions of naira in potential revenue.
To address this, the NPFL will enforce stricter licensing requirements. Clubs that fail to establish, maintain or operate a functional website will not be issued a licence, and existing licences may be withdrawn.
Beyond digital infrastructure, Owumi urged club owners and administrators to invest more in their media departments, stressing that effective communication is essential for building strong club brands.
He outlined the ideal composition of a media department: a Director of Media, Still Photographer, Graphic Designer, News Editor, Social Media Manager, Content Creator and Videographer.
Owumi criticised the current practice at many clubs where a single individual handles photography, interviews, report writing, social media management, video production and graphic design, describing it as unprofessional, unproductive and counter‑effective.
